About
Andre Restrepo is a visual artist who works in photography as a way of tracing the fragile threads of human connection—moments of presence, intimacy, and shared experience that often feel diminished in an era shaped by social media and the mediated, virtual world. His images seek what is unfiltered and unperformed: the quiet gestures, the pauses between words, the subtle exchanges that still bind us together.
Born in Cali, Colombia in 1986, Andre was raised by his mother and grandmother while his father worked in the United States. In 1998, he immigrated to Long Beach, California—a transition that would quietly shape his perspective on distance, belonging, and connection.
His early love for music and the arts cultivated a sensitivity to rhythm, mood, and atmosphere—qualities that naturally guided him toward photography. Through the lens, Andre found a language capable of expressing both absence and presence, memory and immediacy. What began as artistic curiosity evolved into a disciplined practice: using light, timing, and human proximity to document the emotional landscapes we often overlook.
